TRAVEL TIPS |
- A valid passport is required to enter the Republic of Turkey. Visa is required for some countries, we suggest you check before planning your vacation. Visas can be obtained at border crossing for visits of up to 3 months or through a Turkish consular office in the U.S.
- Foreign currencies may be exchanged in post offices, exchange offices and the exchange slips should be kept for one may be asked to show these while taking some souvenirs out of the country perhaps, or in some other cases
- Personal belongings may be brought to the country tax free. All valuable items should be declared to avoid difficulties
- Antique exporting is not permitted. Gifts and souvenirs must have a certificate
- Animals can be brought along only with the certificate of origin and health (vaccination)
- In case one decides to enter by car (or another vehicle) these documents are required: passport, driving license, car registration, green card
- International navigation rules should be followed
- It is best to avoid zig-zagging between Turkish and Greek waters
- Yachtsmen should strictly refrain from taking any souvenirs from the coastal waters and keeping them on board
- According to navigation law, it is forbidden to take passengers on board between two ports in Turkey
- In order to preserve both nature and environment, it is necessary to follow the internationally recognized norms
- When arriving by private plane, the international air routes should be followed. The airports of Ankara, Adana, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Trabzon and Dalaman have facilities for private planes
- Bring light, cotton summer clothing and warmer clothing and cardigans perhaps for evenings or higher altitudes
- Avoid the tap water, including fruits and vegetables washed in tap water
- Seatbelts are mandatory; avoid driving at night
